Cat on Post

This was done on bristol with Derwent Graphitint used for the post and the fence and Albrecht Durer watercolor pencils for the rest. This was difficult and I'm not very happy with it. I decided to quit fussing with it and just post it! LOL! I think there are 4 layers on the cat's body, just couldn't get it to come out like I wanted. Onward I go with working through Kate's book.

This is a very cute kitty! And good colors too. Do you draw the colors with the pencils and then go over them with a wet brush? I haven't used watercolor pencils, but I have some that I need to start practicing with.

Emma Pod - I sketch with pencil first, then just color with the pencils as you would regular colored pencils then go over it with a wet brush.

This is surely a cute cat. I hear you about being unhappy with a piece and posting it anyway. Takes courage to do that. Tomorrow I am posting one like that. I wasn'[t going to but you have given me courage.

I think things are not as bad as we think they are. I really like this cat.

I think you are your own worst critic. This is very good. It's hard to get the right proportions to the cat's face and body, but you have done a fabulous job.

Lynn, Yes I am my own worst critic. I get something in my mind and when I don't capture that vision, I'm disappointed. Thank you so much for your encouraging words, they really help me to look at what is right and not what is wrong!
