Gate 6 - Rusted Gate
Done on Lama li with WN paints. The barn came out too dark and I tried to lift some pigment. Lama li doesn't lift too well, it starts to peel! This was done very quickly, I'm trying to get a looser look and not fuss with it too much. I like how the posts and the gate came out. . . well, except for the scroll work on the top of the gate, not crazy about that part!! I'm still enjoying working on this series.

Yes, Lama li takes some getting used to and certain pieces just do not work well with it. I am to the point now where I know what will work well and what does not. You'll get there too.

My two favorite sketch books are the Lama li and watercolor Moleskine.

I tried to comment on this gate yesterday and had a problem with my computer...I like this rusty gate and in looking at the scroll work in the larger format, it looks right to me, the gate is open, so it wouldn't be even.
